California Voters May Now Register Online

We are so proud to be in a state that is encouraging and not suppressing people’s right to vote! Check out today’s front page article in the SF Chronicle, here, to learn about new ways to register and re-register online with a new system that “allow[s] people whose signature is already on file with the state Department of Motor Vehicles to transfer their voter registration form electronically to county elections officials from the secretary of state’s website.” This change is expected mostly to affect voters under 30. See what it means for you by making your way to sos.ca.gov and remember- Californians have until October 22 to register for the November 6th election!

September “Community Emergency Response Team” (CERT) class

The Coastside Fire District/Cal Fire in conjunction with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services is offering a “Community Emergency Response Team” (CERT) class in September.

Following a major disaster, your first responders who provide fire and medical services will not be able to meet the demand for these services. Factors such as number of victims, communication failures, and road blockages will prevent people from accessing emergency services they have come to expect at a moment’s notice through 911. People will have to rely on each other for help in order to meet their immediate life saving and life sustaining needs.
The CERT course will be delivered at the headquarters fire station at 1191 Main Street in Half Moon Bay. The CERT training sessions for community groups is delivered over a 3-week period.
