What Puente needs this month

Puente needs a new car!

Puente is seeking a new “Puente mobile” – a mid-mileage, well-maintained Jeep-type vehicle – for our back roads travel. Have one lying around? Donate it today for major “Carma” (karma) points.

For details, contact Kerry Lobel at (650) 879-1691 ext. 144 or email Kerry Lobel.

Seeking donated adult mountain bikes

Here on the South Coast, most farm and nursery workers rely on bicycles to commute to work, run errands, and participate in Puente programs. Puente’s bike program is asking for used mountain bikes to help meet those needs. If you don’t have a bike to donate, consider donating some tires or a bike light. Adult-sized bikes only, please.

To donate, contact Community Outreach Coordinator Ben Ranz at (650) 879-1691 x 143 or email Ben Ranz.

Lightly used kitchen items needed for raffle

Puente is doing a raffle once a month at the Pescadero Grown! Farmers’ Market.  We like to give away new or very lightly used kitchen items and other household items that encourage home cooking and a healthy lifestyle. Do you have an extra juicer, slicer, or peeler? How about some extra free weights lying around? Donate them to Puente and help us improve our community’s health.

For details, contact Community Health Coordinator Molly Wolfes at (650) 879-1691 x 321 or email Molly Wolfes.

Puente Needs Thermometers

Puente is asking our community to donate new digital thermometers to help keep the South Coast healthy. Both adult and child thermometers are needed.

For details, contact Community Health Coordinator Molly Wolfes at (650) 879-1691 x 321 or email Molly Wolfes.

Call for volunteers

Help adults learn the rules of the road

This fall, Puente needs several short-term tutors, fluent in Spanish, to mentor adults preparing to take their driver’s license written exam at the DMV. The position involves one or two nights a week, for 4 weeks.

To volunteer, contact Community Outreach Coordinator Ben Ranz at (650) 879-1691 x 143 or email Ben Ranz.

Seeking mentors to keep high school students on track

Puente is committed to supporting our local youth all the way through high school and college. Sometimes by the time anyone realizes a student is struggling, it’s too late. Puente seeks 12 mentors who can commit to spending time with a student one day each week, preferably on Wednesday. Mentors will help ensure their mentee is getting good grades, is on track for college and can even help with academic tutoring and help oversee the college application process. Help change a young person’s life!

For more information on this and ALL volunteer opportunities, call (650) 879-1691 ext 102, email Abby Mohaupt, or fill out a Volunteer Form by clicking here.
