Puente marks another great year at PAFF

Puente staff, board, volunteers and friends were well represented at the Pescadero Arts and Fun Festival this weekend. We were also proud to help launch the South Coast Prevention Partnership which made its first PAFF debut. Puente thanks the PAFF volunteers for 21 years of service to the Pescadero Community. Thanks for all you do and thanks for your financial support for Puente’s youth programs.

This week at Pescadero Grown! Paula Brisker on August 11

Pescadero Grown Community Certified Farmer’s Market, sponsored by Pescadero nonprofit Puente, features the music of Paula Brisker this week, on August 11 from 5-8 PM at 620 North Street in Pescadero.

A Pescadero resident, Paula is a vocalist, songwriter & guitarist. San Francisco born and raised in the Bay Area, Paula has toured all over the country promoting her music and debut CD Narrow Road. Ross Hogarth – Producer, Engineer for Melissa Etheridge, Jewel and Ziggy Marley, writes  “Every now and then I get the opportunity to be involved in making records that are and will be timeless in quality. Narrow Road is one of those for me. I am pleased with the result and loved the process of sharing in its creation. I look forward to what the future holds for Paula and feel that the best is even yet to come for her and her fans.”

CalFresh and Pescadero Grown! Tokens at the Market
To help fill the gap and get more farm-direct produce into the hands of our low income neighbors, Puente and many individual donors have partnered to create Friends of Pescadero Grown! a token matching program for recipients of CalFresh, WIC as well as other low income participants that reside in Pescadero, La Honda, Loma Mar,and San Gregorio.

Pescadero Grown! Tokens may be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at the Pescadero Grown Certified Community Farmers’ Market. They work just like cash. If you receive WIC, CalFresh (food stamps) or your income is below the 133% FPL, Puente will match a maximum of $10 worth of your purchases each week if you enroll in the program. For more information about the program, click here. To enroll in the program, contact Lorena Vargas at 650.879.1691. For our friends that live outside the South Coast, your CalFresh card is welcome at the Market.
