Pescadero Grown! opening day

More than 200 South Coast residents and their friends attended the launch of Puente’s Pescadero Grown! certified farmer’s market. Many thanks to those farmers and producers who participated in the launch event — Del Sur Farm, Echo Valley Farm, Blue House Farm, Fly Girl Farm, Addwater Farm, Fogline Nursery, Markegard Family Grass Fed,a nd  Early Bird Ranch. Thanks to Get Healthy San Mateo and Kaiser Permanente for providing partial support for the Market and to Erin Tormey of Coastside Farmers Markets for her generous guidance. The market is weekly from 5-8 PM at 620 North Street, Pescadero CA.

Puente partners with Echo Valley Farm for CSA boxes

Puente has partnered with Echo Valley Farm to bring community supported agriculture boxes to 15 Zumba participants. Zumba,  Latin and International music mixed with a fun and effective workout system, is part of Puente’s healthy communities strategy which combines exercise and healthy food as means to reduce hypertension, obesity and diabetes.

Puente offers new internship program

This year, Puente youth staff began serving as interns with nonprofit organizations, local government, and individual professionals including the City of Half Moon Bay Finance Department, Coastside Chamber of Commerce, Davenport Resource Center,and  Coastside Hope. In future weeks, interns will work at the Pacifica Resource Center and the San Mateo County Bar Associaton as well as other professionals. Funding for the project is provided by the San Mateo County Workforce Investment Board, TomKat Foundation, and individual donors.
