Coastside Mother’s Club Delivers

The Coastside Mother’s Club delivered eight boxes of new and gently loved children’s books in anticipation of Puente’s annual celebration of el día de los niños, to be held on April 29, 2011 from 530-730 at Pescadero Elementary School. The Mother’s Club also delivered 12 ride-on toys, a very welcome addition to Puente’s outdoor playground.

Blue Ribbon Week: Prevent Child Abuse

What factors contribute to Child Abuse and Neglect?  There is no single known cause of child maltreatment. There is no single description that captures the type of family in which children are victims of abuse and neglect. Child maltreatment occurs across socio-economic, religious, cultural, racial and ethnic groups.

Research however, has pointed to a number of risk factors falling into four domains: parent or caregiver factors, family factors, child factors and environmental factors. For a complete list of these factors as well as additional information regarding causes, symptoms, prevention and many more resources for protecting children and strengthening families visit http://www.childwelfare.gov
