In response to the Tsunami Evacuation Order today, Puente Youth Staff put their CERT Training Into Action, helping Red Cross and Emergency Officials, provide a safe space for Tsunami evacuees. Watch La Honda’s Fire Captain talk about the youth.

The County of San Mateo has ordered residents on the west (ocean) side of Highway 1 to evacuate. Pescadero High School is the gathering site for those leaving home. Pescadero schools are closed today, but La Honda school is open. Call Puente for updates.

Nearly 100 Coastside residents celebrated the launch of San Mateo County’s new bookmobile. The bookmobile, the first new vehicle in 19 years, provides a library lifeline to the South Coast which has no libraries. Thanks to the bookmobile staff, County Board of Supervisors President Carol Groom and Supervisor Don Horsley, along with Half Moon Bay Mayor Naomi Partridge and Councilwoman Marina Fraser, and Pescadero Elementary School Principal Pat Talbot, for attending the event.
