January 17, 2011 marks the 12th Annual San Mateo County celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Puente is beyond thrilled that we have been named THE 2011 Honorary Group for the parade. Gloria Brown, Chair, African American Community Health Advisory Committee at Mills-Peninsula Health Services has been named Honorary Chair of the event.

Puente was pleased to support our sister organization, the Chicana/Latina Foundation, by attending their annual scholarship awards dinner. We’re excited to partner with C/LF and their “Broadband Awareness and Adoption Project.”The project focuses on connecting rural Latino communities to the internet.

Guests enjoy intimate conversation at Butano House Party

Many thanks to Wendy Wardwell for creating an intimate and lively house party for Puente in Butano Canyon. As a long-time board member of Puente, Wendy assembled countless welcome bags for newcomers to Pescadero who work in local farms and nurseries. That same sense of love and care infused the house party. Thank you!
