On October 14, Puente staff attended the Chicana Latina Foundation annual scholarship awards dinner. Each year the Chicana Latina Foundation awards merit-based scholarships to Latina college students. Scholarships are valued at $1,500 dollars each.
This year the awards dinner was hosted News Anchor Maria Leticia Gomez.
Each year, Puente invites Pescadero youth to the dinner as a way to see other role models and be inspired by the amazing stories of the awardees.
Puente was one of thousands of organizations throughout the United States that organized an earthquake drill for its staff, program participants in our ESL for Women classes, and their children.
Puente also presented disaster preparedness information at its PescaderoGrown! Farmers Markets in Pescadero and La Honda as well as signed up community members for First AID and CPR Classes.
The disaster preparation activities are funded in part by the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.

Puente will again partner with San Mateo County Health System to provide flu vaccines in La Honda on November 1 and Pescadero on November 3 during Farmer’s Market hours.
